The Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for Political Affairs, Brigadier General Yadollah Javani, asserted on Thursday that the United States will not be able to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by force, highlighting a nationwide consensus to maintain the closure of the strategic waterway.

In a public statement, Javani declared that US President Donald Trump "will take the dream of reopening the Strait of Hormuz through military action with him to his grave."

Total Domestic Consensus on Waterway Control

Brigadier General Javani emphasized that a complete consensus exists within Iran among the country’s leadership to safeguard the strategic waterway and impose Iranian regulations on it.

"The military capability of the Iranian Armed Forces to protect and control this waterway is fully available, given the geopolitical positioning of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman," Javani stated.

Furthermore, the IRGC political deputy pointed out that this sovereign decision has the absolute support of the Iranian public. "The people do not merely support control over the Strait, but they demand it as an utmost priority," he added.

Sharp Rejection of Trump’s Threats and Personal Attacks

During his speech, Javani launched a personal attack against the US President. "The Iranian people and the world will never forget how this wicked and malicious Trump—who holds a shameful and scandalous record in the Epstein files—threatened Iran with the overnight destruction of its thousands-of-years-old civilization."

Addressing Trump’s threats to target Iran's domestic infrastructure, Javani said: "Trump falsely imagines that by destroying Iran's infrastructure and depriving our people of energy, he can easily exact revenge on a resistant nation that stands firm against American ambitions."

Warning of a Global Energy Halt: "Energy for All or No One"

Javani concluded with a stern warning directed at the international community:

"The entire world, including leaders in America, Europe, and other regions—as well as the rulers of countries in this region—must pay close attention to this vital and fateful point: If the terrorist US military commits such a strategic mistake, everyone will have to bid farewell to energy in the region."

He reinforced Iran's decisive policy on the matter, summarizing it as: "Energy for all, or no one."

Background to the Escalation

These remarks follow Iran's recent decision to completely re-close the Strait of Hormuz. The complete shutdown was enacted after Washington breached the bilateral memorandum of understanding (MoU), reversing a prior arrangement that had briefly allowed commercial ships to navigate transit lanes designated by the IRGC.

In response to the closure, the United States has continued its airstrikes targeting Iranian coastal regions alongside the reimposition of its naval blockade.
