Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed the latest bilateral, regional, and international developments during a telephone call with his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot.

During the call, Araghchi emphasized to the French Foreign Minister that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of the United States violating its obligations under the Islamabad Memorandum and its destabilizing actions.

The Iranian Foreign Minister explained that the responsibility for the consequences of this situation rests squarely with the party that reneged on and withdrew from agreements and continued a unilateral approach. He noted that the U.S. withdrawal from agreements and its persistence in this unilateral path have endangered the course of diplomacy and the stability of the region.

In another context regarding bilateral relations, Araghchi expressed his objection to his French counterpart over actions violating diplomatic norms committed by two French diplomats in Tehran.

He stressed that adherence to the host country's laws is a prerequisite for the continued operation of diplomatic missions.
