The residents of Minab, located in Iran's southern Hormozgan Province, held a funeral service yesterday, Wednesday, for 68 remains belonging to 34 child martyrs from the "Al-Shajara Al-Tayyiba" school. The children were martyred on the first day of the recent US-Zionist military aggression on February 28.
The children's remains were recovered, collected, and identified following months of examination and DNA matching. The funeral ceremony was held yesterday to reunite these remains with their pure bodies, which had been previously laid to rest. Surrounded by large crowds of residents and grieving families, the remains were returned to their final resting place at the Minab Martyrs' Cemetery.
Atallah Naweki, Director-General of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs in Hormozgan Province, announced that diligent efforts and search operations lasting over four months led to the identification of the remains of 34 martyrs who had been buried previously, paving the way to join them with their rest.
Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account:
"Today, we buried the newly discovered remains of our children in Minab; with every piece, a part of our very being was buried."
Baghaei added:
"Every part of our children's small bodies is an eternal testament to a suffering that will never be erased from the memory of Iranians."
He continued:
"However, this mourning does not belong to one nation alone, but is a warning to the conscience of the international community. The greatest threat to human civilization is the normalization of an idea that, under the pretext of 'helping nations,' transcends all legal and moral boundaries to display overwhelming force; an idea that uses technology in the service of destruction, media in the service of denial, truth in the service of false narratives, and coldly justifies the most heinous crimes."
