Arab and international reactions condemning the Israeli settlement plan in the “E1” area of the occupied West Bank continued, amid warnings of its repercussions on the unity of Palestinian lands and the possibility of establishing a geographically contiguous Palestinian state.

The foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt expressed, in a joint statement on Friday evening, their rejection of the settlement plan and related settlement activities east of occupied Jerusalem.

The ministers said that the “E1” plan represents a “dangerous escalation” that would push forward settlement expansion and annexation, and undermine the geographical continuity of the occupied Palestinian land, especially between the West Bank and East Jerusalem, threatening the possibility of establishing an independent, geographically contiguous, and viable Palestinian state.

The ministers renewed their condemnation of the violations and acts of violence committed by settlers against Palestinians and their property, supported by the Israeli occupation authorities.

This comes after Israel issued a new tender to build 1,234 settlement units within the “E1” plan, which drew condemnations from France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Japan, Malaysia, and the Sultanate of Oman.
