Former Bolivian President Evo Morales praised Iran in a post on “X,” describing it as “an example of a people’s dignity in the face of the empire.”

He added that Iran’s sovereign technological development had enabled it to “reduce the vast military disparity,” noting that the Iranian people confronted psychological warfare and disinformation through solidarity, while its strategic plans responded to US financial and economic pressures.

He further said that the “empire” is capable of imposing sanctions and threats and waging wars, but “will not be able to subjugate the will of a sovereign people.” “While it exhausts itself in wars of weapons,” he said, “Iran demonstrates that sovereignty can also prevail in the economic war.”

Morales, who is wanted under an arrest warrant, appeared in February this year at a mass rally in his stronghold of Chapare, affirming to thousands of supporters that he had not fled the country, following weeks of absence from the public scene.

Morales continues to enjoy broad support among his grassroots base, particularly in rural areas and among Indigenous people. He continues to appear at public gatherings to support his candidates and participate in the country’s political movement, maintaining the image of a popular leader who stands alongside his people.
