Speaker of the Parliament Sheikh Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i affirmed that Yemen is presenting a different model in dealing with the issues of the nation, through steadfastness in confronting aggression and defending Arab and Islamic causes, stressing the importance of continuing this approach and strengthening internal cohesion.
In a speech marking the first annual anniversary of the martyrdom of the President and members of the Change and Construction Government, Parliament Speaker Sheikh Yahya Al-Ra’i stated that the government must double its efforts to confront Saudi conspiracies in the occupied provinces. He affirmed that Saudi Arabia’s adoption of tools to carry out its crimes in Yemen does not exempt it from responsibility, stressing that the Yemeni people know who is targeting them with aggression and siege.
He stressed the need to pay attention to and care for the children of martyrs, in appreciation of the sacrifices made by their fathers over the past years, affirming that this group deserves continued attention from state institutions and society. He called for special attention to be given to the southern provinces, for communication to be maintained with their people and their views and conditions to be heard, stressing the importance of the government being in direct contact with the people of those provinces, working to understand their needs and positions and strengthening communication with them.
Al-Ra’i criticized the contradiction in the positions of a number of Arab regimes regarding what is taking place in the region, pointing out that Arab peoples are being subjected to bombing and attacks, while other Arab leaders are engaging in dialogue with the United States or the Zionist enemy. He questioned the reality of Arab solidarity in light of the wars and attacks taking place across the region.
He affirmed the importance of investment and economic localization, and the need to provide conditions that help build an economy that relies more heavily on Yemeni capabilities and resources.
He stressed that the current phase requires the concerted efforts of the various state institutions, the private sector, and society, and that protecting commercial activity and encouraging investors constitute part of the requirements of economic steadfastness, particularly amid the continued challenges facing the country. He affirmed the importance of dealing with investors as partners in the economic development process and working to remove the obstacles facing them.
He stressed the importance of supporting Yemen’s commercial and investment sector and taking into consideration the circumstances of investors and traders amid the conditions the country is going through, stressing that the economic battle represents an important aspect of the battle of steadfastness being waged by the Yemeni people. He affirmed that the concerned authorities must encourage investors and facilitate their work, and not increase their burdens through customs and taxes, particularly under the current circumstances, which require strengthening local production and supporting economic activity.
He pointed out that traders and investors play an important role in confronting economic challenges, affirming that their battle to preserve economic activity and provide citizens with their needs is no less important than the battle being waged by the armed forces and security agencies in protecting the country and confronting challenges.
The Parliament Speaker called for investors to be given greater attention and care, and for the appropriate environment to be created for them, in a manner that helps sustain economic activity and strengthen reliance on local capabilities, at a time when the country is facing the repercussions of the siege and aggression and declining resources.
