The public relations department of the Iranian Army announced on Monday in a statement that its forces had targeted the Al Minhad base in the UAE with suicide drones, in response to the US aggression that targeted Lark Island in southern Iran.

The Iranian Army statement added that the suicide drones targeted the positions of helicopters and US forces stationed at the Al Minhad base, which is considered one of the major support and air transport centers for foreign forces.

Meanwhile, Mehr News Agency revealed, citing a statement by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), that the IRGC had shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the Strait of Hormuz.

The agency added that the IRGC downed the aircraft using air-defense missiles, causing it to crash into the waters of the Gulf.

At dawn today, the IRGC carried out a combined operation using ballistic missiles and drones targeting the King Hussein and Azraq bases in Jordan, in response to the US attacks that targeted Lark Island in southern Iran on Sunday evening, which resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries.

Lark Island, along with other islands and cities in southern Iran, witnessed intense attacks targeting vital facilities, ports, and maritime observation towers, during a round of daily attacks launched by US forces against Iran last July.

Lark Island is considered one of the most important islands overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, as it lies at the narrowest point of the strait and alongside the actual shipping lanes used by vessels, making it an advanced point for monitoring and surveillance.
