The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said it has detained a Russian national employed by the organization responsible for the security of the UK Embassy in Moscow on charges of high treason.
The FSB accused the detainee of working as an agent for the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
"In the course of counter-intelligence operations, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation exposed an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine - a Russian national born in 1981 who was an employee of the organization providing security for the UK Embassy in Moscow," the FSB said in a statement.
According to the statement, "The individual has been detained, a criminal case has been opened against him … and a preliminary investigation is underway."
