Russian authorities said on September 20 that the Moscow region had repelled the largest drone attack on the capital, with more than 1,600 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) intercepted since Saturday.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said more than 1,600 UAVs had been intercepted across all defensive lines, including 450 that were stopped as they approached the capital.

"The most massive enemy drone attack has been repelled. Since yesterday, more than 1,600 UAVs have been intercepted across all defensive lines. Of these, 450 were stopped on the approach to Moscow," Sobyanin said on Max.

Despite the reported interception of hundreds of drones, Sobyanin said one drone struck a building near Orekhovy Boulevard in southern Moscow. Emergency services were working at the scene, according to the mayor.

"During the ongoing attack, a drone struck a building near the Orekhovy Boulevard. Emergency services are working at the scene," Sobyanin said.
