Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that the remarks made by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Mark Rutte, represent an admission of European participation in the war against Iran.

Baghaei’s position came during his discussion regarding the attacks targeting Iran and the role of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He posted a video clip on his account on the "X" platform featuring Rutte’s speech, in which Rutte mentioned that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Europe are participating in the attacks on Iran.

Baghaei said that "Rutte’s statements are an acknowledgment of Europe’s knowingly participating in the attacks on Iran," adding that the role of European countries in supporting the American-Israeli war on Iran should be studied, taking into account the rising fuel prices and other difficulties resulting from the war.

Rutte had stated, during his participation in a seminar, that 5,000 sorties had been executed from bases in Europe following the attack launched by the United States of America and Israel on Iran on February 28.

Furthermore, in an interview with American media, Rutte affirmed Europe's readiness to intervene in the Middle East—in response to the situation in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz—"once current defense investments bear fruit," independently and "without the need for Washington’s participation."
