Taiz Acting Governor Ahmed Al-Masawa said Yemen’s western coast had suffered years of foreign intelligence interference, with Mokha Port turned into a military and intelligence hub targeting Yemen.

Al-Masawa said on Saturday that the western coastal areas had been deprived of basic services and suffered severe administrative weakness.

He said Saudi-backed forces had transformed Mokha Port into a military base for intelligence operations against Yemen and deliberately disrupted its role to serve the Zionist entity.

He added that the disruption was not accidental, stressing that Saudi Arabia played a major role by recruiting Yemeni officers to advance its objectives at the strategic port, which he said was comparable in importance to major international maritime straits.

Mokha Port occupies a strategic position on Yemen’s western coast near the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the world’s key maritime corridors linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

During years of aggression, the western coast became a major military and intelligence theater, while key ports faced repeated disruption and restrictions.

Saudi Arabia and its allies seek to weaken Yemen’s maritime infrastructure and prevent the country from fully benefiting from its strategic coastline.
