United States officials reported on Monday, as cited by NBC, that eight United States Marine Corps personnel were injured two weeks ago by an Iranian cruise missile in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a related context, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Sunday that its naval forces seized a second advanced United States REMUS 600 autonomous underwater vehicle in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, its naval forces intercepted the United States military underwater drone while it was conducting intelligence-gathering operations in the area, noting that the vehicle operates on an autonomous navigation system and carries out most of its missions without requiring continuous operator communication.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in remarks reported by NBC that his country would withstand any aggression directed against it, "even if it leads to an apocalyptic war," emphasizing Iran's readiness to confront any challenge to the same extent it remains prepared for negotiations.
Foreign Minister Araghchi pointed to the presence of a "completely logical plan" currently on the table, asserting that should the United States reject it "without cause," it would bear full responsibility.
Outlining the proposal, Foreign Minister Araghchi explained that the initiative spans seven days, stating that under the seven-day plan, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened on the sixth day, and negotiations toward a final agreement would resume on the seventh day.
