The Washington Post reported that the US War Department (Pentagon) has quietly added 37 cases to the tally of military personnel wounded during the war on Iran.

The newspaper noted that the Pentagon’s database does not explain how or when these personnel were wounded, pointing out that their addition brought the number of wounded since the start of hostilities to 861 service members.

It added that the administration of President Donald Trump had previously omitted the names of four military personnel who were killed as a result of the war with Iran from Pentagon data.

According to the newspaper, Pentagon spokespersons did not respond to requests for comment. The Navy and Marine Corps referred questions to US Central Command, which oversees US military missions in the “Middle East,” while a spokesperson for the command declined to comment. Military officials have not publicly disclosed any recent attacks or incidents targeting US forces that would explain how the 37 service members were wounded.

The Washington Post reported last week that the number of US military personnel killed in the “Middle East” during the war on Iran exceeds the figure officially announced by the Pentagon.
