Entisaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemned continued Saudi military escalation in several Yemeni provinces, including airstrikes, artillery shelling and attacks on civilian objects and service facilities.

In a statement, the organization also condemned the killing of a girl by a mortar shell fired by Saudi-backed forces at Al-Talila village in Maqbanah district, Taiz province. It said that the killing of children in shelling constitutes a serious violation of children’s rights and requires investigation and accountability.

The organization stated that nearly 10,000 children have been killed or injured during 12 years of aggression against Yemen. It also said attacks on schools, civilian facilities and telecommunications networks violate international humanitarian law and threaten children’s safety and access to education.

Entisaf warned that continued military operations and the blockade have placed civilians at further risk, particularly women, children and other vulnerable groups, while contributing to the destruction of infrastructure and essential services and worsening humanitarian and social conditions.

The organization called for accountability for serious violations of international humanitarian law, protection of civilians and civilian objects, and adherence to the principles of distinction and proportionality. It also urged the United Nations and international human rights bodies to document reported violations and take legal measures to ensure redress for victims.

Yemen has faced continuous US-Saudi aggression and a comprehensive blockade since 2015, resulting in severe economic disruption and the deterioration of public services. The targeting of critical infrastructure, combined with restrictions on imports and financial flows, has significantly reduced state revenues and weakened key institutions.
