The International Academic Campaign Against Zionist Occupation and Apartheid revealed an increase in the number of movement obstacles in the occupied West Bank, including east of al-Quds, reaching 925 checkpoints and other obstacles affecting the movement of around 3.4 million Palestinians.

The campaign explained that the number of movement obstacles has risen by 43% compared with the annual average recorded over the past two decades, indicating an expansion of the restrictions imposed on Palestinian movement between cities, towns, and villages.

According to the data, there are 459 obstacles hindering access between Palestinian towns and villages and the main roads, while at least 20% of these obstacles impede Palestinians’ access to their agricultural lands.

The campaign pointed out that checkpoints, gates, closed roads, and closures are no longer separate measures, but have instead become a system of restrictions that directly affects various aspects of Palestinian life, including employment, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic activity.

It added that the continued presence of these obstacles places additional burdens on Palestinians and restricts their ability to access essential services, workplaces, and educational institutions, as well as making it difficult to reach agricultural lands and sources of livelihood.
