Reuters reported the sighting of a massive cloud of smoke and flames rising from the vicinity of a facility belonging to Saudi Aramco in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Satellite imagery also showed a fire breaking out at the site, with thick columns of smoke rising into the sky.

Satellite images showed a fire erupting at an Aramco refinery in Riyadh, with flames detected at around 05:00 UTC and a massive column of smoke rising over the Saudi capital.

According to information circulating in reports, the facility was targeted by drones and missiles earlier in the morning, while satellite imagery indicated a direct hit on the targeted site.

Weather satellite imagery also showed a massive plume of smoke extending over several areas of northern Riyadh. At the peak of its expansion, around 10:00 a.m. local time, the plume reportedly stretched approximately 107 kilometers.

Disruptions were also recorded in air traffic over the Riyadh area in connection with the incident, before airspace activity returned to its normal pattern.

Sentinel-2 satellite imagery captured on October 3 at 07:17 UTC showed fires burning in fuel storage tanks inside the Aramco refinery in Riyadh. Reports suggested that the fire may have been caused by a suicide drone launched from Yemen.

Circulating reports indicated that the flames engulfed three oil storage tanks, while the intensity of the fires was estimated at approximately 200 megawatts. Satellite imagery also showed the extent of the damage sustained by the facility.

According to these findings, the satellite imagery reinforces indications that a strike targeted an Aramco facility in the Saudi capital, resulting in a large-scale fire and dense plumes of smoke.
