Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank are facing heavy losses at the start of the olive harvest season, as Israeli attacks target both the trees they depend on and the land they are increasingly prevented from reaching.

The Palestinian Agriculture Ministry said Israeli attacks caused more than $1.75 million in direct agricultural losses in one week, with olive trees accounting for most of the damage.

In a statement covering the period from September 25 to October 1, 2026, the ministry said its teams documented losses worth $1,751,224 across seven governorates amid escalating attacks on farmland and sources of agricultural production.

The damage included uprooting, burning and breaking trees, stealing crops, destroying agricultural facilities and water sources, bulldozing land, preventing farmers from accessing their property, and building or expanding settlement roads and outposts.

Olive trees bore the brunt of the Israeli attacks. The ministry documented damage to 1,582 olive trees through uprooting, cutting, breaking and burning, with direct losses estimated at about $1,545,310, nearly 88% of all agricultural losses recorded during the week.
