The Insaaf Organization for Women and Children’s Rights has strongly condemned the Saudi enemy’s escalation against a number of Yemeni provinces.
In a statement, the Insaaf Organization denounced the Saudi enemy’s targeting, through missile and artillery shelling, airstrikes, and gunfire, of residential areas, densely populated villages, and civilian properties in the provinces of Saada and Taiz.
It pointed out that the Saudi enemy’s air force targeted Saameh’ District in Taiz Province, resulting in the injury of a woman. Another woman was also injured as a result of artillery shelling by Saudi aggression mercenaries on the Al-Rubaie Al-Rawd area in Al-Ta’iziyah District. An airstrike by the enemy’s aircraft also targeted the eastern entrance of the Al-Qasr Roundabout road in Salh District.
The organization condemned the Saudi enemy’s shelling of the Mahalla and Al-Qahr Hattab areas in Manbeh District of Saada Province, which resulted in the injury of a citizen and an African migrant. Another citizen was also injured in the Al-Jabana area of Razih District, amid missile and artillery shelling targeting border villages and populated areas in the districts of Al-Dhahir, Razih, and Ghamr, in addition to the targeting of telecommunications networks with missiles in the districts of Saqain and Haydan.
The Insaaf Organization considered the continued airstrikes and artillery and missile shelling targeting residential areas, populated villages, civilian and service facilities to constitute grave violations of the rules and principles of international humanitarian law, foremost among them the principle of distinction and the principle of proportionality, in contradiction with international rules that guarantee the protection of civilians and civilian objects.
It warned that the continuation of the Saudi aggression and the siege imposed on Yemen constitutes an ongoing threat to the lives of civilians and contributes to the worsening of humanitarian and living conditions, in addition to the damage inflicted on property, civilian facilities, and infrastructure, particularly the targeting of service facilities upon which residents depend in their daily lives. This results in humanitarian, psychological, and social repercussions, especially for women, children, and the most vulnerable groups.
The organization called on the international community, the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to shoulder their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, work to halt the Saudi aggression and siege, ensure the protection of civilians and civilian objects, and not ignore the violations committed against the Yemeni people.
It renewed its call for the immediate provision of protection to the Yemeni people, particularly women and children, ensuring their safety and preventing them from being subjected to aggression, respecting the rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, taking serious international measures to halt the aggression and the targeting of civilians and civilian objects and to lift the siege, and ensuring that those responsible for violations do not escape accountability.
