The Ministry of Health and Environment affirmed that the closure by Saudi enemy mercenaries of vital and main roads in Taiz Province, particularly the Al-Hawban road, threatens a health catastrophe for hundreds of kidney failure and cancer patients, preventing them from reaching hospitals to receive treatment.
In a statement, the ministry explained that the mercenaries’ control over dialysis and oncology centers in Taiz city deprives patients of medical care and forces them to flee to other areas outside the province.
It pointed out that the only government-run dialysis center in Sana’a is facing enormous pressure and operating beyond its capacity due to the influx of patients deprived of treatment.
The ministry considered the mercenaries’ intransigence and cutting off roads a blatant disregard for the lives of citizens and an aggravation of their humanitarian and health suffering, noting that the continued closure of roads and blocking of access routes to Taiz threatens a health catastrophe for patients.
It noted the deliberate tightening of the siege by the Saudi enemy and its mercenaries to increase pressure on citizens and deprive them of essential medical services, considering the restriction of citizens’ livelihoods and the shifting of blame onto others a blatant moral and humanitarian bankruptcy before public opinion.
It stated that the mercenaries’ resort to besieging Taiz whenever their political and military options become constrained exposes the falsehood of their claims and their feigned concern over the humanitarian situation, stressing that there is no justification whatsoever for cutting roads and closing access routes to Taiz, and that the flimsy justifications confirm the use of patients’ health conditions as a tool for political pressure.
