Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Shura Council, confirmed yesterday that the Strait of Hormuz security bill preserves “almost entirely” the possibility of Iranian control over both the entrance to and exit from the Strait of Hormuz.

Qashqavi explained that, under the bill, ships belonging to the occupation entity and hostile states, as well as vessels carrying out military operations against Iran or transporting military cargo, will not be permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that ships belonging to non-hostile states will be required to obtain authorization from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, in accordance with the regulations stipulated by law.
