The Ministry of Health and Environment warned that the closure of major roads in Taiz province by Saudi enemy mercenaries, particularly the Al-Hawban road, threatens a health catastrophe for hundreds of kidney failure and cancer patients who are being prevented from reaching hospitals for treatment.
In a statement, the ministry said the mercenaries’ control of dialysis and oncology centers in Taiz is depriving patients of essential care and forcing them to seek treatment outside the province. It added that the government-run dialysis center in Sanaa is already overwhelmed by patients unable to receive treatment in Taiz.
The ministry condemned the continued road closures and blockade of Taiz’s crossings, saying they deepen the humanitarian and health crisis and deprive civilians of vital medical services.
It accused the Saudi enemy and its mercenaries of deliberately tightening the siege to pressure civilians, describing the use of patients’ suffering as a political bargaining tool as a blatant moral and humanitarian failure.
It stressed that there is no justification for closing Taiz’s roads and crossings, saying such pretexts expose the use of patients’ health conditions as a means of political pressure.
