Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Sare'e announced a series of military operations early Wednesday targeting Saudi airports and military positions, as well as Saudi military personnel in Aden.
Sare'e said Yemeni forces targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with drones, followed about an hour later by a ballistic missile strike. He said the attacks disrupted air traffic at the airport.
He also announced operations targeting Abha International Airport and Khamis Mushait Air Base with ballistic missiles and drones, stressing that the strikes disrupted air traffic at Abha airport and caused damage at the air base.
Sare'e said Yemeni forces also targeted Saudi military concentrations at Al-Dagharir camp in Jizan, Akafah camp in Asir, and Al-Mawsim camp in Jizan with ballistic missiles and drones. He stressed that the attacks killed and wounded Saudi soldiers and officers and set several weapons depots on fire.
In a separate operation, Yemeni forces targeted Saudi military supplies delivered to Badr Camp near Aden International Airport with ballistic missiles, according to Sare'e, who confirmed several Saudi officers were killed or wounded.
Sare'e warned Saudi-backed forces against using Aden’s civilian airport for military purposes.
The operations come amid a sharp escalation between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, following renewed Saudi military activity against Yemen and Yemeni warnings that Saudi airports and military positions could become targets.
The latest strikes also follow Yemen’s recent warnings to airlines over Saudi airspace, with Sana'a saying continued Saudi escalation could lead to expanded military measures targeting airports and military facilities.
