Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Saturday the Yemeni people’s right to live in dignity, away from the pressures of sanctions and blockade.

In his address to the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which opened on Saturday in Baghdad, Araghchi said that no country can build sustainable security at the expense of the security of others.

“We believe that the problems of our region must be resolved by the countries of the region themselves and from within the region, before they become a pretext for wars waged by distant powers,” he added.

He continued: “In the same spirit, we believe that the land, airspace, and infrastructure of every country in the region must be used solely to serve regional security and must never become a platform for launching attacks against neighboring countries.”

Araghchi’s Telegram channel also reported that, on the sidelines of the session, he met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

According to the channel, the meeting discussed and exchanged views on developments in the Arabian Peninsula.

During the meeting, Araghchi affirmed Iran’s readiness to provide any assistance to end the conflicts between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

He said that 12 years of tension and conflict had demonstrated that there is no military solution or approach to the Yemen issue.
