The “Gathering of Families of Child Martyrs in Lebanon” condemned on Saturday “the US ambassador’s interventions to impose the abolition of hostility toward the occupation that kills children.”

In a statement, the gathering said: “We reject the US ambassador’s position and attempts to impose amendments to Lebanese law that would permit communication with the ‘Israeli’ enemy.” It added: “We consider the US ambassador’s position an unacceptable interference in our internal affairs and a disregard for the blood of our martyred children and our right to pursue accountability and legal action.”

It continued: “‘Israel,’ which has killed 775 children in Lebanon since 2023 and continues its occupation, destruction, and forced displacement, must not be given any opportunity to communicate with it at the expense of our right to prosecute it and hold it accountable for its crimes.”

The gathering called on the Lebanese state to “respect the position of the martyrs’ families and the rights of the Lebanese people, and to uphold Lebanon’s right to justice and to hold the killers accountable, free from any external pressure.”

It concluded: “The blood of our children is not a subject for bargaining, and our right to hold those who killed them accountable does not lapse with time.”
