Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri affirmed that the repeal of the 1955 law boycotting the Zionist enemy entity will not pass in Parliament, amid US pressure and efforts led by some lawmakers to abolish the law.
Speaking to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar about the pressure and parliamentary moves, Berri said: “Those who believe that things are out of control and that the country is out of control are mistaken. The country has not yet slipped out of control.”
In a sarcastic tone, he added: “I am waiting with bated breath for someone to submit a draft law on this matter.”
In a separate context, Berri stressed that “stability and protecting the country are everyone’s responsibility,” calling on all parties to refrain from anything that could further heighten tensions and deepen internal divisions.
