Tehran has informed Islamabad, which is acting as a mediator between Iran and Washington, that it rejects transferring enriched uranium outside its territory. It has also stipulated that “threats” must cease and sanctions against it must be lifted before dialogue can resume.
In this regard, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stressed that enriched nuclear materials would remain on Iranian soil.
During his meeting with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, Rezaei also affirmed that all enriched nuclear materials would remain in Iran. He said: “Not even an atom of enriched nuclear material will leave Iran. These materials represent enormous capital and a national wealth for Iranians, to be used inside the country.”
He explained that the Iranian people and officials had reached a unanimous, united position: unless the United States takes steps to build trust, there will be no negotiations. He added that the first step toward building trust must be the fulfillment of Iran’s conditions.
Rezaei also noted that “negotiations will not resume until Washington takes steps to build trust, foremost among them beginning to meet Iran’s conditions.”
