The Doctors Beyond Borders organization (MSF) condemned the escalating attacks by Zionist settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, confirming that one of its staff members was violently assaulted during an attack by settlers on his village in the southern West Bank on October 15.
In a statement, the organization said settlers struck its staff member with a hand-sized stone launched from a slingshot, necessitating immediate medical attention. It noted that the attack came amid months of escalating violence, intimidation, and insecurity faced by Palestinians.
The organization quoted the injured staff member as saying that around 20 settlers descended from nearby hills to attack the village’s residents before others joined them. The settlers were armed with clubs, rifles, stun grenades, and slingshots.
He added that the settlers used stun grenades and warning shots to advance into the village and force Palestinians back, in what the organization described as a deliberate attack.
MSF stressed that the incident was not isolated, explaining that Palestinians in the al-Khalil Governorate and other parts of the West Bank had faced a rise in attacks and indiscriminate intimidation in recent months, amid increasingly restrictive movement and access to essential services.
The organization emphasized that the violence against its staff member, the obstacles to accessing medical care, and the restrictions imposed on Palestinians were not isolated incidents. It considered them part of a Zionist policy undermining residents’ safety, freedom of movement, access to healthcare, and ability to live with dignity.
MSF explained that the attack took place in an area subject to extensive closures and road restrictions imposed under the pretext of Zionist military activity. These restrictions prevented an ambulance from reaching the injured staff member because the roads were unpaved.
According to the organization, the injured man was transported in a private vehicle to meet the ambulance, then taken to a clinic before being transferred to a hospital for further treatment.
MSF condemned all attacks targeting civilians and called for the protection of Palestinians, patients, and healthcare workers, as well as safe access to medical services.
The occupied West Bank has witnessed an escalation in attacks by the Zionist enemy’s “army” and settlers against Palestinians and their property, alongside the Zionist genocidal war on the Gaza Strip that began in October 2023. These attacks include killings, arrests, forced displacement, home demolitions, land clearing, and settlement expansion. Palestinian figures indicate that around 750,000 settlers live in the West Bank, including East of al-Quds, distributed across 194 settlements and approximately 400 settlement outposts.
