The Taiz Network for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemned the continued direct and systematic targeting of civilians, infrastructure, and civilian objects in Taiz Governorate by the Saudi enemy and its mercenaries.
In a statement, the network said the latest such incident occurred last night, when the Saudi enemy and its mercenaries fired a mortar shell into densely populated residential neighborhoods in the Al-Arsh area of Hadhran, in At-Taiziyah District, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children.
The network also condemned the continued militarization of the city center by Saudi-backed mercenaries, accusing the criminal militias of deliberately setting up checkpoints and ambushes to restrict civilians’ movement and prevent them from leaving the city.
Citing international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the network said the deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of residential homes constitutes a clear violation of the principles of distinction and proportionality and may amount to a war crime.
It added that deliberately targeting women and children inside their homes constitutes a grave violation of their right to life and human dignity and may amount to a crime against humanity.
The network held the Saudi enemy and its mercenaries fully responsible for the massacre and all crimes committed against civilians.
It called on the United Nations, the Security Council, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and international organizations to condemn the militarization of the city and ensure that those responsible for these crimes are held accountable.
