Yemen’s Armed Forces have renewed warnings to international, regional and domestic airlines, as well as airport employees and passengers, against travelling through King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, declaring it a military target and holding the Saudi regime responsible for the consequences of continuing its operations.

In a brief statement issued Saturday evening, Brig. Gen. Yahya Sare'e, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said the airport was unsafe and urged airlines and travellers to avoid using it.

“The Saudi regime bears responsibility for the consequences of any continued operation of the airport,” Sare'e said, adding that Yemeni Armed Forces would continue their operations against the facility and that it would not be safe.

The warning comes amid escalating tensions between Sana'a and Riyadh, with Yemen’s Armed Forces reiterating their threat to target the airport.

Operations at King Khalid International Airport reportedly halted on October 10 after Yemen’s Armed Forces announced an escalation-for-escalation, airport-for-airport policy. The move came after Saudi Arabia attacked Sana'a International Airport, which violated the truce that began in 2022.

Sana'a has continued to launch retaliatory ballistic missiles and drone attacks against Saudi airports, ports and oil facilities in response to Saudi criminal attacks on Yemen and its civilian population.
