The United Nations warns of a new war in the Gulf

The United Nations has warned of a new war in the Gulf after the assassination of the commander of the “Quds Force” Qassem Soleimani with a US airstrike in Baghdad.

Farhan Haq, the spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said that we are very concerned about the recent escalation in the Middle East, where the United States killed the prominent Iranian military leader Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the Iraqi crowd, Jamal Jaafar al-Ibrahimi.

Guterres warned of a new war in the Gulf, saying that the world cannot afford this war.

Farhan stated that the Secretary-General is constantly devoting his efforts to stop the escalation in the Gulf, stressing that Guterres is extremely concerned about the current escalation.

On Friday morning, the American forces assassinated the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Major General Qassem Soleimani, after arriving at Baghdad Airport during an official visit to Iraq, by launching airstrikes on his motorcade near the airport, which led to his martyrdom, as well as the deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and several Escorts.

The US Department of Defense announced that the army had killed Qassem Soleimani upon instructions from Trump, stressing that it was a decisive defense measure to protect Americans abroad.
