Norwegian Council calls on countries involved in funding Yemen war to stop fanning the flames

The Norwegian Refugee Council has called for a ceasefire in Yemen.
“Yemen needs a rescue package and there should be a ceasefire,” Said Mohamed Abdi, director of the Office of the Norwegian Refugee Council in Yemen, in a statement.

“The continuation of airstrikes and fighting so far is very shameful,” he said, adding that “countries involved in financing and supporting this war must stop fanning the flames and help silence weapons once and for all.”

A study conducted by the Council revealed that one in four Yemeni families surveyed is at risk of starvation after losing all their income since the onset of the Corona epidemic in Yemen.
According to the study, food is a major concern for nearly 94% of families.

The Council called for a small part of efforts to revive the economy of the wealthy countries of the post-Covid19 countries towards Yemen to help achieve economic stability, refinance relief assistance, and end import restrictions.

He explained that the Corona epidemic comes at the top of a host of other challenges that could cost people their lives as more families have slipped into poverty after their incomes have fallen and are now facing more hunger.

Families in Yemen are struggling hard to survive and their situation is worse than ever, the statement said.
