Minister of Oil: one or two ships of oil are not sufficient, the daily consumption reaches more than 10 million liters per day
Minister of Oil and Minerals, Ahmed Abdullah Darras, on Sunday called on the United Nations to exert more efforts to release all oil derivative ships being held by the Saudi-led aggression coalition and prevent them from entry to Hodeidah port.
The move came during his meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Lise Grande.
During the meeting, Darras stressed on the importance of the humanitarian role played by the United Nations to release the detained ships to provide the service sectors’ needs of oil derivatives and to ensure for continuing the service facilities that provide services to citizens.
Meanwhile, the UN official affirmed the UN’s readiness to communicate and coordinate for release of oil derivative ships to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, take into account the humanitarian aspect, and prevent the suspension of service sectors, especially the health sector, in light of the current situation.
