Sanaa International Airport warns of running out of fuel, halting its services

Sana’a International Airport’s administration warned of its inability to provide air navigation services to receive aircraft of United Nations and humanitarian and relief organizations in the coming days due to the near-depletion of its stockpile of oil derivatives.

The airport’s administration, in a statement said that in light of the arbitrary measures by the aggressive countries that prevent the oil derivatives’ ships’ entry, the airport’s stock of diesel and petroleum is about to run out and that the available quantities will only cover operating needs for a few days.

The statement stressed that the airport’s administration is unable to operate generators, firefighting vehicles, and the rest of the devices and equipment that provide services to aircraft of UN and humanitarian and relief organizations that arrive and leave Sana’a International Airport daily.

“If the detained oil derivative ships by the aggression are still being held for more than five months, this will cause the airport to be completely closed to flights of UN and humanitarian organizations,” the statement said.

It called on them to intervene urgently to provide oil derivatives to ensure continuing the work at Sana’a International Airport and to provide services to the UN and its affiliated organizations and other humanitarian organizations, operating in Yemen.
