New leukemia department launched in Sana’a
A new leukemia department at Kuwait University Hospital in the capital Sana’a was opened by the Health Minister Dr. Taha al-Mutawakel on Tuesday .
Baladna Foundation for Relief and Development and the Cancer Control Fund funded Martyr Abdulrahman al-Medhwahi department which was added to the Children’s Leukemia Unit at the hospital.
Dr. al-Mutawakel called on businessmen to support such centers in light of the ongoing aggression and blockade, adding that the department will make a quantum leap in alleviating the suffering of children with leukemia.
Dr. Al-Mutawakel noted that as a result of the aggression’s use of internationally banned weapons in Attan and Nuqm areas in the capital Sana’a, the number of children with leukemia has increased from 300 to 700 . In addition, 1,000 children were injured in the rest of the provinces.
The minister held the aggression countries responsible for the death of the patient children for preventing the entry of their medicines, callinh on international organizations, especially the world health organization (WHO) to do their duty to provide the most important medical needs for the patient cancers.
