Al-Murtadha: agenda of upcoming negotiations is to implement the second part of Amman Agreement
The chairman of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs, Abdul Qadir al-Murtadha , revealed negotiation details of the upcoming prisoners’ exchange scheme in Amman, Jordan.
The agenda of the upcoming negotiations is the implementation of the second part of the Amman agreement; 200 prisoners of the army and committees in exchange for 100 members of Saudi-led mercenaries, including Nasser Mansour Hadi, Al-Murtadha told Al-Masirah TV on Saturday.
He explained that the second part of the agenda also addresses expanding the number of prisoners in the deal to include more than the previous deal, pointing out that the other party is not ready to go in all-for-all in the exchange of prisoners.
Al-Murtadha said: “We insisted on the UAE’s presence in the prisoner negotiations as it has troops on the ground in addition to its factions, and we hope that the United Nations and Saudi Arabia will implement this request.”
He went on to say that the Saudi side must be present as a leader of the aggression and to negotiate with the army and popular committees, adding that the Saudis are the ones who have the reins for the other side.
On Friday, he announced that Sana’a had received an official invitation from the United Nations to attend a new round of negotiations regarding the prisoners’ exchange starting on 19 November 2020 in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
Al-Murtadha added that Sana’a welcomed the invitation and emphasized the participation of all parties in order to complete this humanitarian exchange, expressing the hope that this round of negotiations will be more fruitful than the previous one.
