Egyptian teacher killed by minors in Saudi Arabia

The Egyptian government confirmed the killing of its citizen, teacher, Hani Abdel Tawab, in Saudi Arabia last week, expressing its confidence in the Saudi judiciary and punishing the perpetrators.

The Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, Nabila Makram Abdel-Shaheed, expressed, in a statement, “her sincere condolences to the family of the Egyptian teacher, Hani Abdel-Tawab, who was killed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

The Egyptian minister indicated “confidence in the Saudi judiciary and that the perpetrator will receive his penalty in accordance with the laws governing the Kingdom.”

Abdel Tawab, a 35-year-old English teacher in middle school, died in the halls of intensive care at a hospital in Riyadh, after being shot by one of his students last week.

The Egyptian newspaper “Al-Watan” quoted a friend of the late teacher, Ahmed Mahmoud, that the incident began with an altercation between Abdel Tawab and one of his students, 13 years old, in the classroom.
