PM meets new director of OCHA in Yemen

Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor met in Sana’a on Monday with the newly-appointed Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen, Sajjad Mohammad Sajid, according to Saba.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed the UN official, praising the distinguished roles OCHA plays in humanitarian projects that contribute directly to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression and blockade.

Dr. bin Habtoor touched upon the fuel crisis that the Saudi-led aggression coalition repeatedly fabricates by preventing the arrival of fuel ships to the port of Hodeida, and the negative repercussions of that on the sectors of health, water, education and other aspects related to the lives of citizens.

He stressed that the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people are increasing as a result of the continued aggression and blockade.

The meeting discussed the OCHA activities and its work priorities for the current year, in addition to the coordination mechanism to enhance its humanitarian performance and facilitate its various activities.

Sajid confirmed that the OCHA is keen to continue humanitarian work to reduce the tragic situation that the Yemeni people are going through.

The UN official pointed out that everyone in the United Nations and its humanitarian organizations are happy with the new US administration’s announcement to reconsider the Trump administration’s decision on Ansarullah, given the negative impact the decision had on 30 million Yemenis.
