Security Council holds new meeting on “escalation in the Middle East”
The United Nations Security Council will hold a new meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement on Tuesday (May 18th), diplomatic sources at the UN said.
A source told The Russian news agency TASS that China, Tunisia and Norway had proposed a return to discussing the issue in a closed-door consultation session.
The meeting is intended to adopt a joint statement on the escalation between Israel and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The consultation session on the subject will be held for the fourth time after the UN Security Council failed to issue the statement because of the intransigent position of the United States of America.
