Saudi Arabia Pleads for Missile-Defense Resupply as Its Arsenal Runs Low

The American “Wall Street Journal” newspaper revealed that Saudi Arabia asked its allies in Gulf, Europe and United States for more Patriot missiles, which ran out as a result of Yemeni missile and drone attacks, which are now striking the kingdom frequently.

Saudi Arabia is running out of the ammunition it uses against weekly drone and missile attacks. “it is urgently appealing to the U.S. and its Gulf and European allies for a resupply,” U.S. and Saudi officials said.

It added that the Saudi arsenal of interceptor missiles has seriously declined, and it appears that US officials are about to formally agree to the Saudi request to supply them with more missiles.

“Despite concerns about Saudi Arabia’s human rights record and other issues, US officials believe they have an obligation to help the oil-rich kingdom defend itself,” the newspaper said.

It also made clear that the situation raises the concern of officials in Riyadh that without an adequate stockpile of Patriot interceptor missiles, attacks by the Yemeni armed forces could lead to significant losses or damage to vital oil infrastructure.

The Yemeni Armed Forces has announced the 7th of December Operation on military and vital targets in Saudi Arabia in response to the escalation of the US-Saudi aggression, siege and the crimes it is committing against civilians in Sana’a and various governorates.
