Armistice outcomes are not encouraging; Biden’s visit is condemned: Sana’a

As the humanitarian and military truce is approaching to end, the Saudi aggressive coalition keeps insisting on intransigence and refuses to implement the terms of the agreement. Sana’a stressed that this “experience” cannot be repeated in the future and that the US President’s talk about the extension again is worthless in light of the shocking and discouraging data on the ground. Sana’a also reiterated adherence to the main peace equation as the only way to a comprehensive solution, with no alternative but the continuation of confrontation, in a new warning that comes in conjunction with an American-Saudi attempt to arrange ranks; In order to continue the aggression and siege.

US President Joe Biden recently spoke of “Saudi Arabia’s agreement to extend the armistice in Yemen” in an attempt to mislead public opinion and polish the image of the Kingdom and the United States. Also to cover up the continued suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the aggression coalition’s intransigence and refusal to implement the terms of the agreement.

Biden’s statement came during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, in which he carried an aggressive agenda with regard to Yemen in particular and the region in general, as the visit clearly aimed to arrange the ranks of the forces of aggression and their sponsors to continue targeting the countries of the region, especially Yemen.

In response, the Supreme Political Council announced its rejection of any outcomes issued by Biden’s visit that affect the sovereignty, security and stability of Yemen, denouncing the US President’s talk about extending the armistice, which “did not obligate the side of the aggression to implement its terms.”

The council’s statement added that the armistice “represented a shocking and disappointing experience that cannot be repeated in the future,” stressing “the permanent readiness to strengthen any credible efforts that lead in a guaranteed manner to real and practical solutions in the humanitarian and economic aspects.”

“Peace in Yemen requires a clear, serious will and practical readiness by the countries of aggression to respect the sovereignty and independence of Yemen, and to engage in a practical way in stopping the aggression, lifting the siege, ending the occupation and any form of military presence in Yemen. In addition to addressing all the effects and repercussions of the war, foremost of which is the release of Prisoners, reconstruction, compensation and reparation,” the Supreme Political Council states, noting that “external interference in Yemen’s internal affairs represents the greatest obstacle to peace.”

The Council explained that the facts on the ground indicate the lack of credibility of any American or Saudi talk about peace, including “rejection of the initiatives and concessions made by Sana’a to alleviate the suffering of the citizens, and the adherence of the aggression countries to the siege and impeding the flow of ships to the port of Hodeidah and closing the Yemeni airspace at a time when the atmosphere is open for the Zionist enemy.”

The statement stressed that “America is not in the process of modifying its behavior towards Yemen and the region as a whole, which makes the visit of the American president the object of condemnation, denunciation and rejection by the Yemeni people and all the free people of the nation.”

The Council’s statement added that Yemen adheres to its full right to continue the struggle and take what it sees as the measures and options that guarantee the full and undiminished rights of the Yemeni people, and rejects all attempts to detract from it or circumvent it in any way.

The statement carried clear and direct messages to the countries of aggression and the United States, the most prominent one points out that there is no more time for more evasions and formal and partial solutions that still make the suffering of the Yemeni people ongoing. Thus, there is a necessity to approach the main peace equation, which has been announced by the national leadership more than once, because it represents the only alternative to the continuation and escalation of legitimate military operations to respond, deter and liberate.

Also, in this context, the head of the national negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abulsalam, affirmed that “peace in Yemen can only be achieved by a comprehensive cessation of aggression, the withdrawal of foreign forces, a comprehensive lifting of the siege, and the release of prisoners, in order to comprehensively address the repercussions of the aggression in terms of compensation and others.”

“Any measures that do not amount to real peace are of no value,” he noted, referring to closing the door to bargaining attempts through which the enemy seeks to obtain military and political gains in exchange for humanitarian aspects.

Abdulsalam stressed that “there is no stability in the region without the stability of Yemen,” indicating that the United States of America will not be able to protect the forces of aggression – as it claims – if the requirements of a just peace are not achieved in Yemen.

This was also confirmed by a member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, who explained that “the current truce did not bear fruit, and we are not satisfied with it.”

The Minister of Defense, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Atifi, confirmed a few days ago that the armed forces are “ready to turn the table and deal with all changes” if the countries of aggression insist on continuing the war and siege.

The countries of aggression and the United States of America are trying to circumvent the requirements of peace by trying to turn the armistice into a continuous state of “no war, no peace” to restrict Sana’a’s military options, in parallel arranging ranks to continue the aggression and siege. However, Sana’a’s warnings since the beginning of the truce clearly confirm that these efforts by the coalition have no future, and the consequences of this behavior will be shocking to the enemy and its sponsors.
