Yemen’s Defense Minister Stresses Sovereignty and Calls for Regional Security
The Yemeni Defense Minister, affiliated with the National Salvation Government, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Atefi, said on Saturday, “The Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, the Gulf of Aden, and our territorial waters are purely Yemeni areas, and our maritime sovereignty over them is complete. We are capable of providing the necessary protection and securing regional and international navigation.”
During a visit to the troops of the Fifth Military Region in the Al-Tuhayta, Al-Faza, Al-Hayma al-Sahiliya, and Al-Jarrahi fronts on the West Coast, the Defense Minister emphasized that “the era of guardianship over Yemen has ended forever.” He conveyed the congratulations and greetings of the leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the President of the Supreme Political Council, Marshal Mehdi al-Mashat, to the troops and to all the free and honorable people of Tihama.
He explained that “today’s conditions, and at this stage, are moving toward de-escalation and reaching a comprehensive peace, which is contingent on the sincerity of the intentions of the leaders of the aggression coalition, with what has been agreed upon with the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, and commitment to these understandings for the benefit of the region and its peoples, and foremost, regional and international interests.”
The Defense Minister warned the countries of the aggression coalition against any circumvention or maneuvers in dealing with these understandings, as any violation or evasion of any agreement or understanding will result in losses and put them in an endless predicament.
He advised, “Our sincere advice to the aggressors, and those who have allied with them, is to learn from previous lessons because our rifles, artillery, missiles, and marches are ready. They must be certain that the upcoming battles will not be inside Yemen, as they imagine, but in the depths of the aggressors’ territory, which will make them understand the meaning of great pain.”
He pointed out that “today’s talks with the aggressor countries, and what the revolutionary leadership, represented by the leader Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, who manages the stage’s data with wisdom, foresight, and breadth of horizon, put the interests of the Yemeni people first, as well as laying the foundations for security and stability in Yemen and the region.”
