Yemen bans Swedish imports over Quran burning

The Republic of Yemen, its leadership, authorities, and people, reiterated its categorical rejection of ongoing Western offenses against Islamic sanctities, which recently occurred in Sweden. The leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi, announced a diplomatic boycott of Sweden, while the Ministry of Trade and Industry declared decisive measures as part of the economic boycott. This comes in parallel with widespread public support for confronting hostile conspiracies against Islam.

Diplomatic Boycott:

Extremists in Sweden recently burnt a copy of the Holy Quran, an additional crime in a series of aggressive offenses against Islamic sanctities in the country, covered by the Swedish government under the pretext of “freedom of expression.” This new offense sparked widespread condemnation across the Islamic world, with many countries issuing statements of denunciation.

However, at the national level, reactions have gone beyond condemnation to taking decisive stances. The leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi, announced that Sana’a informed Sweden of its refusal to host any new rounds of consultations in response to the ongoing offenses against Islamic sanctities.

The leader added in a statement a few days ago, “We will have no diplomatic or economic relations with Sweden.” He had previously affirmed that if Sana’a had diplomatic relations with Sweden, it would sever those ties and expel the Swedish ambassador in response to the offenses against the Holy Quran.

Sayyid Al-Houthi emphasized that the reactions in the Islamic world to these offenses are “very weak” and should be stronger, calling on Islamic countries to sever diplomatic and economic ties with Sweden. He explained that the recurrence of these crimes confirms that the Zionist lobby controlling Western countries is behind them.

Economic Boycott:

The leader of the revolution also announced a “decisive decision in Sana’a to boycott Swedish products.” In this context, the Minister of Industry and Trade in the Salvation Government, Mohammed Sharaf Al-Mutahar, stated that the ministry has taken measures in response to the leader’s directives.

These measures include “banning all goods of Swedish origin, whether imported directly from Sweden or through other countries,” along with “canceling and deregistering agencies registered with the ministry for goods, products, and services of Swedish origin.”

The minister added that the decisions also involve “canceling and deregistering the registration of branches of foreign companies and houses operating under the name or on behalf of a Swedish foreign company. In addition, the new regulation also bans the reception of any applications or transactions related to any agency or trademark associated with goods of Swedish origin.”

Public Support for Defending Sanctities:

In parallel with the official decisions and measures, large crowds took to the streets in an angry protest in the capital Sana’a a few days ago, denouncing the crime of burning a copy of the Holy Quran in Sweden and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people against the ongoing Zionist attacks.

The protest statement emphasized that the crime of burning copies of the Holy Quran targets the Islamic world and its sanctities in a manner that “cannot be tolerated,” pointing out that the Zionist lobby controlling Western decisions is directly behind this crime.

The public demonstration called on the countries and peoples of the Islamic world to adopt practical, decisive stances and measures against Sweden, including boycotting its goods and products and severing diplomatic relations with it.
