Minister of Transport praises Yemeni engineering capabilities, its role in activating the movement of Hodeida port

The Minister of Transport, Abdul-Wahhab Al-Durra, and the CEO of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Corporation, Captain Muhammad Ishaq, were briefed on Wednesday on the progress of maintenance work in the General Administration of Technical Affairs in the port of Hodeida.

During the visit, Minister Al-Durra and Captain Ishaq met with the Director of Technical Affairs, Fahd Al-Jaboubi, and the cadres of the technical and engineering departments, and listened to an explanation about the progress of work in the department, the level of efforts being made in maintaining and repairing equipment, and what was accomplished during the past year 1444 AH.

The meeting discussed programs related to the process of maintenance and development of the equipment of the Red Sea Corporation, and the plan to continue repairing launches and cranes in the ports of Hodeida and Saleef for the new Hijri year 1445 AH.

The Minister of Transport praised the Yemeni engineering capabilities, its creative initiatives and innovations, and its role in breaking the economic blockade, noting the role of the leadership of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, the General Administration of Technical Affairs and the technical staff, and the extent of care to follow up on the maintenance of equipment and machinery according to the available capabilities to keep pace with the challenges of activating the movement and activity of the Red Sea ports.

He considered what the Corporation is doing in carrying out maintenance and repair of equipment with local expertise and self-support in light of the difficult circumstances of the repercussions of the exceptional phase of the country, a qualitative achievement that translates the aspirations to achieve the operational efficiency of managing the port of Hodeida.

While the CEO of the Ports Corporation, Captain Ishaq, explained that challenges and difficulties will not stand as a stumbling block to move forward with determination in carrying out responsibilities, indicating that the corporation places a matrix of priorities on itself to keep pace with the movement of ships entering and restore navigational and commercial activity through the port of Hodeida.

In addition, Minister Al-Durra, accompanied by the head of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, visited a number of berths in the port of Hodeida, to see the progress of work in unloading and loading goods and containers.

During the visit, the Minister of Transport praised the efforts of the workers at the wharf, the extent of discipline, and the continuation of continuous work, including during vacations and official holidays, directed to raise the activity and rate of unloading of ships and containers to ensure that they are not delayed and that speed is achieved.
