Protests in Aden and Lahj over Deterioration of Services and Power Outages

On Thursday, angry protesters closed Al-Mualla street, the main road in Aden, in protest of the deterioration of services and power outages. The protests expanded to reach the neighboring Lahj governorate, where protesters also closed its main streets.

Al-Mualla street is one of the main and important streets in Aden and one of the important entrances to the port. Local sources said that militias of the UAE-backed transitional forces tried to open the road and disperse the protests, but they failed despite firing bullets in the air to disperse the demonstrators.

Aden’s directorates are witnessing popular boiling and widespread protests that reached the vicinity of Muaysheeq Palace. At least two dead and 10 injured protesters were killed over the past two days by gunfire from transitional forces.

Since last Tuesday, Aden has witnessed escalating popular protests condemning the deteriorating living conditions amid the failure and inability of the Saudi-UAE coalition of aggression and their local mercenaries to address ongoing crises and ensure the necessities of life.

The streets of Aden turned into fires and volcanic magma due to popular anger that now openly demands the departure of the Saudi-UAE coalition of aggression and their local mercenary tools distracted from the concerns and needs of citizens with their conflicts and implementing the agendas and plans of their masters in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi at the expense of the homeland and interests of its people.

Local sources said that protests are expanding and reached the neighboring governorate of Lahj. Angry protesters closed on Wednesday night the main roads in Lahj governorate. Local sources in Lahj said that Al-Rabat Street, which is one of the most important streets in Tuban district, was closed by protesters who burned tires and chanted against the forces of aggression and occupation and their mercenaries.

Activists and journalists shared a video clip of the closure of Al-Rabat Street by protesters in protest of the deterioration of services and power outages. The protesters set fire to defective tires and chanted slogans calling for saving the inhabitants of the city from deterioration of living conditions, power outages, and halt of services.

The Revolutionary Southern Movement had previously announced its blessing and support for popular demonstrations and protests in Aden, Lahj, and Abyan demanding services, affirming its standing with them in their fair demands and legitimate rights. It called on all citizens demonstrating in Aden and southern governorates to carry out more protest demonstrations and escalate popular uprising until all legal demands are achieved, corruption of armed militias is uprooted, which are wreaking havoc on land, depriving citizens of their simplest rights to services, living conditions, fair humanity.

Popular protests erupted on Tuesday evening in a number of Aden’s occupied directorates as a result of absence basic necessities of life, deterioration of electricity services in an unprecedented manner. The protesters cut off streets in Al-Mansoura, Sheikh Othman neighborhoods in Aden and raised slogans demanding the departure of Saudi-UAE aggressive coalition from southern Yemen.

Power outages multiplied within the past days, due to lack of fuel shortages, which caused most electrical stations in the occupied areas to stop functioning.
