Yemen’s National Wealth Under Threat: Unlawful Exploitation by Foreign Entities

Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, confirmed on Sunday that the forces of American-Saudi-Emirati aggression and their tools continue to exploit and tamper with the nation’s wealth. The mercenary government has recently permitted Chinese vessels to plunder the country’s fish wealth, causing significant damage.

According to the “26 September Net” website, affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, the mercenary government has recently allowed a Chinese fishing fleet to operate in Yemeni waters illegally. The Chinese fleet is equipped with advanced technologies and includes fuel ships, fishing and transport boats, and other equipment for supply and camouflage.

The Chinese fleet is reportedly fishing and dredging the stock of squid, fish, and marine creatures in Yemeni waters in the Sea of Oman, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. This activity poses a significant threat to Yemen’s fish wealth, which has been subjected to major ongoing looting operations for years by foreign entities.

Foreign companies have been looting and smuggling fish and marine life in vast quantities, with tacit approval from the countries of aggression. This activity has led to a sharp rise in fish prices in the occupied provinces.

Mohammed Al-Zubairi, Minister of Fish Wealth in the Salvation Government, stated that these illegal fishing operations carried out by Chinese ships pose a real threat to livelihoods and fish stocks. The operations result in dredging coral reefs and causing large quantities of fish and marine creatures to die.

Al-Zubairi warned that if these operations continue, Yemen will be deprived of its wealth. There will be a sharp decrease in fish populations and their reproduction rate, especially some rare species in Yemeni regional waters.

The mercenary government treats fish wealth as private projects for sale and rent to achieve personal profits at the expense of Yemenis’ interests. This approach is similar to how it handles oil and gas wealth.

In this context, Al-Zubairi confirmed that “the mercenary government has been working since the beginning of the aggression on selling and renting out national wealth components.” He added that this is part of a plan by countries of aggression that have been working for nine years on looting all Yemen’s capabilities and occupying its marine, oil, and other wealth.

The leader of the revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, had previously announced that the equation for protecting national wealth imposed by the armed forces will expand to include all wealth on land and sea.

Despite sharp criticism faced by this deal due to its blatant corruption and major violation of country sovereignty, the mercenary government continues to openly sell more interests of Yemenis. It announced a few days ago that it had “decided” a deal to sell the telecommunications sector to the Emirati enemy.
