In Pictures: Yemen’s Grand Military Display Reveals Over 80 Weapons (Ballistic, Naval, Air Defense, Drones)
SANA’A, Yemen – A grand youth, military, and security display was held today in Seventy Square in the capital, Sana’a, in celebration of the ninth anniversary of the glorious September 21 revolution.
The display was attended by His Excellency Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council – the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and members of the Political Council and heads of the House of Representatives and Ministers and Judiciary and Shura and the Supreme Court. The event showcased the advanced level of the Yemeni armed forces in its various units, types, and formations.
The segments of the youth scout display reflected the joy of Yemenis on this national occasion. It marked an important milestone in contemporary Yemeni history, symbolizing freedom, independence, dignity, and rejection of foreign guardianship and dominance.
An artistic operetta was presented during the display, forming an artistic painting that drew a picture under the name “Yemen” and the flag of the Republic of Yemen. It reflected a bright image about the authenticity and civilization of Yemenis in conditions of peace, war, construction, development.
Brigadier General Ali Yahya Al-Hamzi, commander of the parade, advanced to ask President Al-Mashat for permission to start a grand youth military parade. The military parade began with youth scout displays on this national occasion. It highlighted how far military development has come for Yemeni armed forces despite challenges facing Yemen.
The procession featured a solemn display, with the Holy Quran leading the way, accompanied by images honoring the revered martyr leader, Sayyid Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi, and the visionary revolution leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik al-Houthi. Alongside these images were emblems proudly showcasing the slogans of Ansar Allah, the boycott movement, and the September 21 revolution.
In a magnificent military spectacle, the armed forces showcased 54 locally manufactured armored vehicles, aptly named “Hani,” in honor of the esteemed martyr Hani Toumer. These formidable vehicles, renowned for their exceptional speed and maneuverability, have played a vital role in various theaters of conflict, including Al-Bayda, Marib, and Al-Jawf, demonstrating their effectiveness in both desert and urban warfare scenarios.
The Air Defense Systems
In the realm of air defense, the armed forces have demonstrated a variety of detection and tracking systems that belong to the Air Force and Air Defense. These include:
- Naba Radar: This system directs various types of missiles and is equipped with the latest anti-jamming systems. It can operate for extended periods and can track four targets simultaneously. It is small in size but powerful in impact and interception.
- Sadeq System: This optical system has a wide range in scanning and displaying both enemy and friendly targets. It can track between ten to fifteen targets.
- Shafaq Radar: This is a new search and tracking system.
- Afq System: This tactical system is known for its accuracy in target identification. It can track a target for a distance of up to more than 90 km and an altitude of no less than 35,000 feet above sea level.
Additionally, the armed forces showcased air defense missiles, revealing some for the first time:
- Mirage Missile
- Barq1 Air Defense Missile: This missile has a range of 50 km and a height of 15 km. It possesses advanced technologies that enable it to pursue targets and hit them with ease.
- Barq 2 Missile: With a range of 70 kilometers and a height of up to 20 kilometers, this missile is equipped with advanced technology that enables it to pursue, track, and pounce on targets.
- Fater Missile
- Saqr1 Missile
- Saqr 2 Missile: This missile has a range of 150 kilometers and an altitude of 35 thousand feet. It is equipped with advanced technology for confronting jamming and electronic warfare.
These systems represent significant advancements in air defense technology.
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)
The spokesperson for the armed forces said: One of the things that the Yemeni armed forces are proud of and value is the unmanned aerial systems, which played a prominent role in the battle to confront aggression, through the participation of models of reconnaissance and combat drones today in the grand military parade of the armed forces, including:
- Rajoom Plane
- Rasid Plane: A reconnaissance plane with a flight time of up to 45 minutes. Its tasks include monitoring and reconnaissance of enemy movements on all fronts and axes, drawing maps, and aerial surveying.
- Khatif 2 Plane
- Raqib Plane: A vertical take-off reconnaissance plane with a flight time of up to 3 hours. Its reconnaissance tasks include live broadcasting day and night, thermal imaging, and map scanning.
- Qasef 2K: An offensive suicide drone carrying several warheads, some fragmentary and some penetrating, with a range of up to 400 kilometers.
- Samad 1 Plane: An offensive plane carrying a highly explosive warhead weighing up to 20 kg, with a flight time of six hours and a range of 500 km. It takes off from a fixed platform via a booster.
- Samad 2 Plane
- Samad 3 Plane: An offensive plane carrying an explosive warhead weighing from 20 kg to 50 kg. Its range is 1800 kilometers and it takes off from a fixed platform via a booster.
- Mirsad 1: A reconnaissance drone that broadcasts live and takes pictures day and night, as well as thermal imaging and map scanning. Its flight time ranges from eight to ten hours. The launch mechanism involves a fixed platform, which can be either stationary or mobile.
- Mirsad 2 Plane: A reconnaissance plane that broadcasts live and takes pictures day and night, as well as thermal imaging and map scanning. Its flight time ranges from eight to ten hours. However, what sets Marsad 2 apart is its vertical takeoff capability.
- Wa’eid 1 Plane: An offensive plane carrying a highly explosive warhead weighing 30 kg, with a range of 1200 kilometers.
- Wa’eid 2 Plane: An offensive plane carrying an explosive warhead weighing 40 kg. Its range is up to 2000 kilometers.
- Shahab Plane: An offensive drone equipped with an intelligent tracking system and a dual penetrating and fragmentary warhead with a range of up to 1000 kilometers.
These aircraft represent significant advancements in unmanned aerial technology.
The Missile Force
In a recent display of military prowess, the armed forces unveiled several models of missiles from their missile force, some of which were being revealed to the public for the first time. The showcase included:
- Tochka missile, which has been deployed in initial military operations by the missile force. This missile was used to target a foreign enemy camp in the Marib Governorate, resulting in significant casualties.
- Zilzal 3 missile, another significant addition to the arsenal.
- Qasim missile, a medium-range ground-to-ground missile known for its high precision in striking targets. It has been used in over 180 operations, most notably against gatherings of Sudanese mercenaries in the border region of Malahiz.
- Badr series of missiles, including Badr, Badr1, Badr2, and Badr3 variants.
Ballistic and Winged Missiles
In a recent military demonstration, the armed forces unveiled a variety of ballistic and winged missiles, some of which were being shown to the public for the first time. The display included:
- Badr4 missile: A medium-range ground-to-ground missile that operates on solid fuel and is known for its high accuracy in hitting targets.
- Quds 4 missile: A long-range, ground-to-ground winged missile, the fourth version of the winged Quds missiles, capable of accurately hitting targets and evading radars.
- Aqeel missile: A long-range, ground-to-ground ballistic missile that operates on liquid fuel and is known for its target accuracy.
- Toufan missile: A long-range, strategic ground-to-ground missile that operates on liquid fuel and is known for its precision.
- Meyun missile: A medium-range ballistic ground-to-sea missile that operates on solid fuel, capable of hitting stationary and moving maritime targets, and is characterized by its massive destructive power.
- Tankil missile: Known for its target accuracy and can be launched from any point on land to any point in the sea along Yemen’s territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and Gulf of Aden.
- Mutee missile: A ballistic ground-to-air missile that operates on solid fuel, is characterized by aerial maneuverability, and high speed.
- Quds Z-0 missile: A long-range cruise missile, ground-to-sea, anti-naval forces, capable of accurately hitting stationary and moving land and sea targets, and is characterized by its massive destructive power.
- Saeer missile.
- Al-Bahr al-Ahmar (Red Sea) missile.
- Karar missile: A smart ballistic ground-to-ground missile known for its target accuracy. It has a range of 300 kilometers and the explosive head weighs 500 kilograms.
- Qaher1 missile.
- Qaher 2m missile.
- Muhit (Ocean) missile.
- Tankil missile: A system of medium-range ballistic missiles, ground-to-ground, and ground-to-sea that operate on solid fuel. There are two versions: one ground-to-ground and the other ground-to-sea”.

- Zulfiqar missile.
- Quds1 missile.

The spokesperson for the armed forces emphasized the importance of developing defensive missile capabilities to confront aggressors against Yemen on land, sea, and air. He also mentioned the necessity to continue the liberation process until achieving independence.
He pointed out that the land-sea missiles including Meyun and Tankil are known for their target accuracy and can be launched from any point on land to any point in the sea along Yemen’s territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and Gulf of Aden.
He considered what has been achieved in terms of accomplishments in building the armed forces and equipping them with advanced weapons including missiles as nothing but a translation of the directives of the revolution leader who gives this institution all attention due to its main role in defending Yemen.
He said “Let enemies know that the Yemeni army with its weapons and equipment and before that with faith, willpower, determination will not hesitate to deliver the harshest blows in defense of free independent Yemen”.
He reiterated that Yemeni armed forces with their various military formations and war capabilities are not intended for military parades but to carry out duties, tasks, responsibilities related to completing the liberation of the country, expelling foreign forces, ending aggression and siege.”
