Watch: Army releases footage of US ‘MQ9’ Combat Drone Takedown
Yemen’s military media distributed footage on Monday showcasing the downing of an American MQ9 drone. The unmanned aircraft was intercepted over the province of Al-Hodeidah by a domestically manufactured surface-to-air missile while it was reportedly carrying out hostile operations against the country.
The footage included the moment when the air defense forces launched a surface-to-air missile towards the drone, hitting it directly and causing it to burn.
The video also featured the wreckage of the drone and remnants of its cameras and spying devices, providing tangible evidence of the successful operation.
In addition to the drone downing, the armed forces announced the targeting of the British ship “RUBYMAR” with naval missiles, which hit it directly and led to its sinking. Furthermore, the armed forces announced the targeting of two American ships in the Gulf of Aden later in the day. The first ship, “Sea Champion,” and the second, “Navis Fortuna,” were targeted with a number of suitable naval missiles.
