The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Wednesday that they had targeted the American ship TRUE CONFIDENCE in the Gulf of Aden with several missiles.
The Armed Forces confirmed in a statement that, within the framework of the victory over the oppression of the Palestinian people and within the response to the American-British aggression against our country, the naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a targeting operation against the American ship (TRUE CONFIDENCE) in the Gulf of Aden with a number of appropriate naval missiles.
They confirmed that the injury was accurate, thanks to God, which led to the fire breaking out. The armed forces explained that the targeting operation came after the ship’s crew rejected warning messages from the Yemeni naval forces.
They renewed their alert to all ships to respond to the calls of the Yemeni Navy, adding that all crews of the targeted ships must quickly leave after the first attack.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their continued implementation of their religious, moral and humanitarian duties in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and that their operations in the Red and Arab seas will not stop until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted.
This operation comes 24 hours after two American warship destroyers were targeted in the Red Sea by our naval forces, missile force, and unmanned air force. The operation was carried out with a number of naval missiles and drones.
The Embrey Maritime Trade Security Company had confirmed that a ship had been hit and damaged southwest of Aden, and that some of its sailors were transferred to lifeboats.
Reuters, for its part, quoted informed sources about the loss of 3 sailors from the cargo ship targeted in Bab al-Mandab and the injury of 4 with burns, adding that the crew of the cargo ship targeted in Bab al-Mandab had left.
In the same context, an American official announced to Al Jazeera that they were aware of reports of deaths and injuries among the crew of a ship that was attacked off the coast of Aden.
An American official admitted to Al Jazeera that the missile hit the ship flying the Barbados flag while it was crossing the Gulf of Aden and caused it significant damage, adding that the Yemeni Navy launched 5 anti-ship ballistic missiles in the past two days.
Reuters also quoted the owner of the targeted ship southwest of Aden as saying that contact had been lost with 23 members of the ship’s crew and guards, adding that the ship was hit by a missile 50 nautical miles southwest of Aden and that the ship was drifting as a fire continued on board.
AP also quoted the British Army as saying that the crew of the commercial ship that was attacked in the Gulf of Aden had left, while American officials stated that the attack caused deaths.
CNN quoted an American official as saying: “The Houthis continue to surprise us, and we do not have a good idea of what weapons they have.”
In the same context, an American official told CNN that a “Houthi” missile attack on a commercial ship in the Gulf of Aden led to the death of crew members, which is the first time that deaths have occurred as a result of continuous attacks on ships crossing the Red Sea.
Another US official confirmed to CNN that there were casualties in the attack on the M/V True Confidence, but declined to provide further details. The first official said the ship has been abandoned since then.
An official told CNN that the attack occurred at noon Sanaa time, pointing out that this strike is a major escalation on ships in the Red Sea, which began in October in response to the “Israeli” war in Gaza, targeting 57 ships.
