Yesterday, Tuesday, the administration of US President Joe Biden informed Congress of a new weapons package allocated to the Israeli entity worth one billion dollars, a week after Washington threatened to withhold some weapons from “Tel Aviv” due to fears of a large-scale attack on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

A US official said that the administration had informally notified Congress about the arms package that needed approval, which was part of $95 billion in military aid recently approved by Congress to support the defense of Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

This decision comes a week after Biden claimed that he might withhold bombs and artillery shells from “Israel” if Netanyahu goes ahead with launching an attack on the city of Rafah, which is crowded with displaced people.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced last Monday that Washington is continuing to send military assistance to Israel, while he justified stopping the bomb shipment by saying that the American administration “does not believe that they should be dropped on densely populated cities.”

The Wall Street Journal quoted informed sources as saying that the new package includes providing ammunition for tanks worth $700 million, tactical vehicles worth $500 million, and mortar shells worth $60 million.

The Washington Post quoted an American official as confirming that arms transfers to “Israel” are proceeding as planned in advance.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote tomorrow, Thursday, on a bill submitted by Republicans to force President Biden to hand over the arms shipments to “Israel” that he decided to suspend.
