Thousands of Moroccans demonstrated in the city of Casablanca, yesterday, Wednesday, to condemn the assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas movement6 Ismail Haniyeh, and to reject the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
The demonstration, called for by the “Moroccan Front to Support Palestine” (non-governmental), toured the main streets of Casablanca, before heading to the city center, according to Anadolu Agency correspondent.
The demonstrators expressed their rejection of the assassinations targeting officials in other countries, calling on the Arab and Islamic world to intervene to put an end to this.
The demonstration witnessed the participation of human rights activists, and the participants raised Palestinian flags, and pictures of Haniyeh and Jerusalem.
The participants chanted slogans in support of the Palestinians, including “Moroccan salutes to the martyr Haniyeh,” “Moroccan salutes to proud Gaza,” and “Morocco and Palestine are one nation, not two.”
For his part, the head of the Moroccan Space for Human Rights Association (non-governmental), Mustafa Al-Mouni, said that this march aims to express condemnation of “the criminal act against the leader Haniyeh, and the targeting of leaders in previous times.”
He added in a statement to Anadolu Agency that “despite this targeting, the resistance has remained steadfast, and if Haniyeh is absent, another leader will emerge to complete the liberation march and purify the land from the Israeli colonizer who
destroys all values.”
In Moroccan cities, extensive solidarity campaigns with Gaza continue, including demonstrations, protests, donation campaigns, and solidarity evenings.
Early on Wednesday, Hamas announced the assassination of Haniyeh following a “treacherous Zionist raid” on his residence in Tehran, after his participation yesterday, Tuesday, in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Iranian state television also reported that Haniyeh was killed in Tehran, explaining that “the investigation into the assassination is ongoing and the results will be announced soon.”
